HOLLYWOOD DIARY
Style has nothing to do with class...

A new comedy by Octavio Carlin

Los Angeles, CA – June 1, 2017 – TEATRO DE LA O proudly presents HOLLYWOOD DIARY, a new comedy by Octavio Carlin. Don't miss this hilarious fashionable comedy set in the heyday of cinema and silver screen intrigue. Hollywood Diary opens on June 12, 2017 at THE HUDSON THEATRES.

The Plot:

A fictional encounter at the filming of Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte between famous Hollywood gossip columnist Hedda Hopper interviewing all time star Mary Astor about her big return to the big screen but wanting to know details of Mary’s scandalous, tell all, revealing diary. Once used as evidence against Mary, in her own divorce trial.

So shocking her contents were, that brought together the major heads of the movie studios accompanied by their lawyers to convince Astor that it would be better for the movie industry, and for her, not to introduce the diary in court.

The interview goes not as planned…

Cast:

*Kat Brower (Mary Astor) is honored to be portraying the caramel-voiced, intellectual, artistic and cultured Ms. Astor and has enjoyed getting to know Mary better through her research for this production.  Like Mary, Kat is both an actress and writer.  The web series she wrote, Kat vs. Alison, just received a screening at Silicon Beach Film Festival (katvsalison.com).  She has been in several independent films (among them Home Sweet Hoboken featuring Ben Gazzara and Elizabeth Ashley and alongside John Shea and Randy Harrison in Julius Caesar.) Her experience includes over 50 professional stage productions, at such theatres as North Coast Rep, Marin Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare Santa Cruz to name a few.  Kat has done voice over work for FX and MTV. Special thanks to her Teatro de la O family for giving her the opportunity to play! SAG-AFTRA/AEA.

*Genevieve Joy (Hedda Hopper): is an actress and comedienne.  Her Los Angeles theatre credits include Margo In Like Blood From A Cheap Cigar, a play she also wrote, which debuted in last year's Hollywood Fringe Festival and will be playing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this coming August; Libby Tucker in Neil Simon's I Ought to be in Pictures (Falcon theatre); Sarah Berhnardt in  Wild Songs & Naked Souls, The Wealthy Lady in Joyce Carol Oates' I Stand Before You Naked, and Rita in Renne Taylor & Joe Bologna's Love AllWays (Jamaica Moon Productions); and Greta Garbo in HollyWould (Hudson Theatre) also directed by Octavio Carlin.

Genevieve's New York credits include performing stand-up and sketch comedy at all major venues, and playing five original characters in her one-woman show My HBO Special.  Last year, she made her major motion picture debut acting and performing original stand-up in Garry Marshall's Mother's Day starring Julia Roberts and Jennifer Aniston.  Genevieve holds a BA from Hamilton College and is a member of the Gloria Gifford Conservatory.
